League of Women Voters (LWV)

The mission of the League of Women Voters (LWV) is “Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.” We believe in a democracy powered by the people, for the people – all the people.    The League is a peoples’ organization that has fought since 1920 to improve our government and engage all Americans in the decisions that impact their lives. We operate at national, state and local levels through more than 750 state and local Leagues, in all 50 states as well in D.C.  We never endorse or oppose political parties or candidates.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization, works year-round every year to engage and empower voters. They are locally based on more than 750 communities and primarily volunteer-led. LWV teams are working to move much of our 2020 voter engagement work virtual; you’re encouraged to connect with your local LWV to find out about upcoming volunteer and partnership opportunities.

The League also runs www.VOTE411.org, an award-winning website that provides voters nationwide with localized candidate information, voting rules and processes, voter registration and timely information about COVID-related changes to voting rules across the nation.
